The ministry challenge

Many men have acquaintances at church but no real friends.

The idea

Monthly breakfast with assigned tables, a table captain, and one question card.

Why it creates connection: Same table, same men, every month — trust grows by showing up.

Who it's for

Men of all ages — a good fit for men ministry teams who want to build relationships, develop leaders, create conversations.

How it works

  1. 01

Assign tables of six and keep them together for a season.

  2. 02

Table captains open with a question card.

  3. 03

Ten-minute story from an older man in the church.

  4. 04

Captains text their table once between breakfasts.

What materials are needed

This idea uses print, in-person, digital pieces in these formats: Event, Discussion card, Print, Email. Prep takes about 2 hours per month; cost is $.

Communication plan and suggested timeline

A simple rhythm for promoting it well. Put the dates on your church communications calendar so nothing becomes urgent.

  1. 4–6 weeks before

Brief your team and ministry leaders on Men Around the Table. Lock the dates, the one-sentence invitation, and who owns each piece.

  2. 3 weeks before

Announce it from the stage and in your email. Start social posts and a website feature.

  3. 2 weeks before

Put printed pieces in people's hands — bulletin insert, cards, or posters. Share the sign-up or next step clearly.

  4. Week of

Final reminder across slides, email, and social. Personally invite people who are on the edge.

  5. During (Monthly)

Keep in-person touchpoints warm — greeters, tables, and leaders who know the plan.

  6. After

Say thank you, share one story of what happened, and point people to the next step.
